I kind of view this category as if I was gifting someone a great movie DVD. What do they do when reading a book? Get comfy and cozy and have a few great snacks and maybe a glass of wine by your side!! So, how about providing them with those items!
There is a blanket we own that everyone loves to snuggle up with, the Ombre Throw from Pottery Barn.

When I started to think about my favorite gifts as a reader, my mind immediately went to the more practical ideas. Blue light blocking glasses and the Norwex EnviroWand top my list of best gifts. I guess you can tell I’m the older sister, but I love getting gifts that make my life easier and healthier. Pair either of these with a book and they are a great gift for the logical/practical reader in your life.
Blue Light Blocking Glasses. For those who read on a Kindle or tablet, blue light blocking glasses are a great gift. Blue light is a harmful portion of light emitted by digital screens. According to the Paris Vision Institute, younger people exposed to an excess amount of blue light can start to experience age-related macular degeneration at an earlier stage. Other research states that excess exposure is also the leading cause of vision loss for people over 50. Blue light blocking glasses are specially designed to filter out a portion of harmful blue-violet light. They make screen time more comfortable and help eliminate symptoms of digital eye strain.
Norwex EnviroWand. For readers with a lot of bookshelves, the Norwex EnviroWand works like magic to gather dust and dirt from even the most difficult-to-reach bookshelf areas. The removable sleeve has nubby chenille on one side and microfiber on the other and it’s a great alternative to single-use dusting pads and chemical-laden sprays. I love that it is easy to use, reusable, and it works great to get dust off of books.

I’m a BIG fan of reading while enjoying a glass of wine and a bubble bath!
One of my favorite wines to splurge on is the Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. We can usually find it around $60 at one of our local wine stores. Or they have some deals on their website.
If you’re looking for a more budget friendly wine, I like The Substance Cs Cabernet Sauvignon from Charles Smith. You can find it at Costco for just $13! AND it’s delightful.
At the salon, we sell Milk & Honey Bubble Bath Taffy by WhippedUpWonderful. They smell amazing and are silky soft! You can find them at Roar Beauty in Omaha or she sells on Etsy.
I almost forgot! You can’t possibly have a bubble bath and glass of wine without a lovely candle! My favorite is the Blue Volcano at Anthropologie!

Heating Pad: As much as I would love to gift the book lover in my life a working fireplace, that is not the most practical gift idea in the world. But my favorite place to read a book is cuddled up next to a big fire, all toasty and warm. So instead, I’ll give the gift of warmth in the form of a heating pad. I’m a fan of big cozy blankets and I love hot water bottles, but when it comes to added warmth not in the form of flames, I’m all about the heating pad. There’s really nothing like warming up to new characters as you warm up your personal insides. So set the heat to high and let the pages take you away.
Personalized Bookmark: I’m not suggesting you get someone a bookmark with their initials monogrammed on the thing, unless you know that your gift receiver likes that kind of thing. But I am old school and still prefer actual books rather than their e-versions so I’m always on the hunt for a bookmark. Usually, I just use whatever is at hand but I always love it best when that means I’m using a photo or a postcard or something with a personal memory attached to it. So snap a few pics, print them out and gift them to the book lover in your life. Etsy can help you out with this one!

Out of Print Library Stamp Sweatshirt
Mom and Dad introduced me to the store Out of Print a few years ago. They gave me a typewriter scarf and a “Little Women” tote bag for Christmas. I still use both. I have also purchased some items from this shop since. I chose to recommend this sweatshirt because it did not solely focus on love for one book, but a love of books in general. It also looks super comfy and has a kangaroo pouch without a hood, I personally count that as a bonus!
Oscar Wilde Yoga Mat
Remind the book lover in your life to take a break and stretch their body every now and then! I love this Oscar Wilde quote and this yoga mat is so fun!
Jane Austen coin purse
I love Jane Austen! That being said, many fall into the trap of buying the book lover in their life something with this Austen quote on it: “I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading!” BAD IDEA that is a Caroline Bingley quote and she does not mean it, two seconds later she tires of reading! So I found this coin purse that I think is so cute and perfect for the reader in your life! It twists the quote just right. And if you need a larger gift it will fit a gift certificate to the local bookstore nicely!
I can’t help adding this credenza because I think it is so cool! Even though I personally can’t spend that much on a present for any one on my list.
If you happen to have a Jane Austen/Doctor Who fan in your life I personally think this t-shirt is amazing!
