Liquid Lit: Rain Cocktail

April showers bring May flowers was the inspiration for this month’s Liquid Lit. We decided to make a Rain cocktail from “the Perfume Collector”. In this book the Rain perfume is talked about alot and we loved the idea of turning that into a cocktail. Turns out it is hard to make a cocktail that tastes like rain and is something you want to drink. There was copious amounts of research done to discover what the perfume companies do to make the perfume smell like rain and how we could encompass that in a cocktail. Kellie thought about just doing water and vodka at one point. That was the snarky just give up version. We settled on butterfly pea tea as the base to match the green earthy smell. Then whiskey to add a little enjoyable musk.

Rain Cocktail

2oz whiskey (we used Jameson)

2oz butterfly pea tea

½ oz simple syrup

8.45 fl oz Sparkling Water (perrier can)

Shake whiskey, butterfly pea tea and simple syrup. Pour over ice then top with sparkling water.

We chose a lemon twist for garnish simply because i did not think of a tiny umbrella at the time!
