Which Jane Austen book should you read next?

It would be an affront to our Readers were we to suppose that they were not as well acquainted with the particulars of the Austen’s books as we are ourselves. It will therefore be saving them the task of reading again what they have read before or you can click through the link to read the descriptions if you need. What we are going to do instead is list the some of the strong women in each of her books. Then we will list the songs and curse words from our chart at the bottom.

Catherine Morland- She is really sweet with a very active imagination at some points a little to active 🙂

Mrs. Allen– Simple, but loves a good dress

Mrs. Morland– Love the way she defends her daughter

Eleanor Tilney– shy but once you get to know her you have a friend for life

 “It was censure in common use, and easily given.”

Sense and Sensibility 

Elinor Dashwood– this book is named for her she is very sensible

Marianne Dashwood– young and loud until the world changes that

Margaret Dashwood– the movie version is better then the book she actually has a personality before the last chapter

Mrs. Dashwood– Strong mother who keeps her whimsy

Mrs. Jennings– Silly, but very kind and caring

Laugh as much as you choose, but you will not laugh me out of my opinion. 

Pride and Prejudice

Elizabeth Bennet– Wonderfully snarky

Jane Bennet– Sweet as pie

Catherine Bennet– aka Kitty aka one very silly sister who has a good ark

Mary Bennet– she draws the short straw everyone depicts her worse than she is

Mrs. Bennet-Hypochondriac who goes into hysterics often, but she does have a good heart

Charlotte Lucas– realist who speaks the truth

Georgiana Darcy– Sugar sweet and shy

“They are much to be pitied who have not … been given a taste for Nature in early life. They lose a great deal.”

Mansfield Park 

Fanny Price– She lives up on a high horse

Lady Bertram– another hypochondriac but she is the only woman who tells the truth about how important Fanny is to them

Susan Price– Fanny’s little sister who is very smart and kind

“Without music, life would be a blank to me.”

Emma

Emma Woodhouse– Mischievous quick witted and perfectly stubborn

Harriet Smith– Oh Harriet, poor Harriet she is sweet and naive her emotions moved around like chess pieces

Jane Fairfax– Reserved but that does not mean that she does not have a personality and we see wonderful glimpses of it

Mrs. Weston– Loyal friend who wants the best for her friend

Miss Bates– Talkative

“One man’s ways may be as good as another’s, but we all like our own best.”

Persuasion

Anne Elliot– Level headed, kind and humble

Mary Elliot Musgrove– Yet another hypochondriac who is loveable

Louisa Musgrove– Vivacious and full of life

Henrietta Musgrove– indecisive, but sweet

Lady Russell– Strong mother figure who has some problem giving to much advice

Mrs. Smith– good friend who saves Anne and manages to always find a silver lining

Mrs. Harville– Has lots of children but still manages to help her friends when they are sick or hurting

Mrs. Musgrove– Mother who always wants what is best for her family

Mrs. Croft- Devoted wife one of the few Austen women who is happily married and does not have children
